Private tuition – individuals and groups
I am available for one-to-one tuition on saxophone. I also offer improvisation, ear-training, harmony and composition for players of any instrument. My students range from complete novices to professionals who have often been playing for years but want to improve a particular aspect of their playing. As my student, I will guide you according to your needs and aims and will encourage you in the use of good practice techniques (such as keeping a diary, recording yourself, how to use your metronome effectively).

When teaching jazz improvisation, I use transcription as the cornerstone. I encourage my students to learn from the masters of the art as directly as possible, through listening to recordings and imitating them, then extending and integrating the material with their own ideas to create a unique voice.

As well as teaching one-to-one, I am happy to coach an existing band or to run a group workshop, either regularly or as a one-off session.
